Americana Highways Premieres BLOOD from Shelley Segal's Upcoming EP
/Americana Highways presents “Blood” from Shelley Segal’s upcoming EP release Holy.. The EP was produced by Askold Buk and will be available on March 8th
Segal grew up in a strictly orthodox synagogue and an observant home, and the entire EP Holy is her exploration of several features of that upbringing seen from the more evolved, distant perspective of adulthood. The song takes pace over urgent dark rhythms, as it asks fundamental questions: “how can something that flows through our veins be used to divide?” The music guides your heartbeat as it demonstrates the unifying humanity underneath perceived divisions.
“Blood” forces us to question what we are basing our perceived differences on. It asks us to question why we hold onto tribalism and what we should do in the face of the suffering it causes. — Shelley Segal

Collaborating with inspired local producer HAXX, MAYA has released a rework of her debut single, 'Sinners' which is now available at major online retailers as well as on BANDCAMP

"Melbourne singer MAYA is back, this time with a new video for the HAXX rework of impressive debut single ‘Sinners’. We originally premiered the slinky and soulful original a couple of months ago, and the rework changes the formula significantly, slowing things down a little and painting in the margins of MAYA’s smooth vox with restrained strings and skittering percussion.
The beautiful accompanying clip is described by MAYA as a “display of brooding fierceness, sexual chaos and liberation,” It’s hard to argue with that, as she bosses throughout abandoned streets in one hell of a coat."

/Shelley Segal's new EP STRANGE FEELING is officially available for purchase and we couldn't be more pleased for this release! Seeing this project take shape and blossom into fruition has been a really special process.
Through her 'mercurial voice and eclectic sound' (The Bragg), defying all genres Shelley has created a space for her listeners. A space for people to engage with ideas, to question and to reflect on the everyday - to see it's layers, it's depth, it's meaning. Desirous of all expressions, 'Strange Feeling' flirts with elements of jazz, folk, blues and pop. Recorded at Birdland Studios, produced by Robert Upward and co-produced by Lindsay Gravina, the EP boasts a full palate of stunning arrangements performed by some of Australia's finest musicians, delicately encasing Shelley's incredible vocals and spirited stories.
