GORGEOUS REWORK OF MAYA'S 'SINNERS'

Maya_Sinners-Rework_Cover_72.jpg

Collaborating with inspired local producer HAXX, MAYA has released a rework of her debut single, 'Sinners' which is now available at major online retailers as well as on BANDCAMP
To complement the stunning new release is a brand new video

Aussie music blog Tone Deaf writes,

"Melbourne singer MAYA is back, this time with a new video for the HAXX rework of impressive debut single ‘Sinners’. We originally premiered the slinky and soulful original a couple of months ago, and the rework changes the formula significantly, slowing things down a little and painting in the margins of MAYA’s smooth vox with restrained strings and skittering percussion.

The beautiful accompanying clip is described by MAYA as a “display of brooding fierceness, sexual chaos and liberation,” It’s hard to argue with that, as she bosses throughout abandoned streets in one hell of a coat."

SHELLEY SEGAL - SAVED (ACOUSTIC VERSION)

Four years ago Shelley Segal released the full band version of her first single SAVED from her debut record 'An Atheist Album'.

Shelley wrote this song after a discussion with a street preacher that informed her she would be going to hell. This track questions the moral standing of this belief and many others.

We hope you love the acoustic version of this track!

SHELLEY SEGAL - STRANGE FEELING

Shelley Segal's new EP STRANGE FEELING is officially available for purchase and we couldn't be more pleased for this release! Seeing this project take shape and blossom into fruition has been a really special process.

Through her 'mercurial voice and eclectic sound' (The Bragg), defying all genres Shelley has created a space for her listeners. A space for people to engage with ideas, to question and to reflect on the everyday - to see it's layers, it's depth, it's meaning. Desirous of all expressions, 'Strange Feeling' flirts with elements of jazz, folk, blues and pop. Recorded at Birdland Studios, produced by Robert Upward and co-produced by Lindsay Gravina, the EP boasts a full palate of stunning arrangements performed by some of Australia's finest musicians, delicately encasing Shelley's incredible vocals and spirited stories.

Enjoy!

HUMANS AS ANIMALS - BILACK

We are super excited to announce a new Humans As Animals single, Bilack (pronounced By-lack) to be released on May 15th and are celebrating today with the band's accompanying film, Shot by Danielle Sexton (Pet Shop Girls, Factory X) & edited by Alan Erpi.

Known for their bombastic live shows, Humans as Animals are a house with many little rooms, presenting a patchwork scene of dramatic, visceral and blackly absurd observations in song. The five-piece band will be celebrating the release with a double single launch at 24 Moons on May 22 and a regional tour, taking in the Mornington Peninsula and the Great Ocean Rd. Joining them will be LAMA, a vivacious colourful outfit, whose debut single, Eat! will be out May 22.

Bilack is a monster, he enters when matters compound and he bursts from out of a self-medicated sadness and feeds. When full, a combination of hedonism and euphoric ecstasy force him to thrust, a rhythmic display of social dominance performed to clearly label him the inevitable achiever of an act of conjoined, sweaty gene procurement, and the ending is morose.

Self-produced, Bilack was mostly recorded at home at the band's Onion Studios. Rhythm section tracking and mixing was done by Nick Herrera at The Grove Studios, who has worked with the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, and the whole beast was mastered by Jack the Bear at Jack the Bear's Deluxe Studios (Nick Cave, Something For Kate).

Following Bilack, Humans As Animals will be creating work under their new concept, Character. The first piece of the musical puzzle will be released in September with an accompanying Fringe Festival show.
