SEGAL & GLASS
45 YEARS OF MUSIC, COMMUNITY & CULTURE
Australian Jewish music duo Segal & Glass have been enchanting audiences for 45 years. Comprised of Danny Segal on vocals and violin along with Paul Glass on vocals, keys and piano accordion they perform as a 2 piece or with up to a 16-piece band. Their renditions of the ‘Hora’ have been the soundtrack to the Melbourne Jewish community's simchas (celebrations) for generations.
After a serendipitous meeting at the Victorian College of the Arts, Segal & Glass have dedicated their lifelong passion and talents to community celebrations, performing at weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, Jewish festivals, and cultural events in Australia and internationally. The pair frequently volunteer their musical talents at Jewish aged care facilities, Holocaust remembrance events, and community fundraisers. They also enrich synagogue services with liturgical pieces during Jewish holidays.
As pillars of Jewish cultural heritage, Segal & Glass have embodied the essence of klezmer and Jewish folk music. Now, they are preserving their cultural contributions by recording and releasing their debut album after 45 years. This album showcases their joyous music, bringing the vibrant sounds of the Hora to a wider audience.
Segal & Glass's journey is a testament to their enduring friendship, their love for klezmer, their community, and their mission to share the celebratory spirit of Jewish music with the world.
